Default Considering coming back

I was pretty hardcore into this game a couple years ago, and then lost interest, however I hear that the community is still going strong and was thinking about getting back into it. I think one of the reasons I lost interest was I never got factions or nightfall, and I still only have prophecies. But I'd really like to get back into playing, maybe find a nice guild where I can do some PvP etc. I guess I'm kind of looking to meet some new players that can help me scrub off my rust. idk this turned into a bit of a ramble but yeah =P

Who said the community was going strong as ever?
If you want to get back into playing, why not buy the missing games and re-learn the ropes in your own time? Good luck!

Do it! Do it! Do it! The game has TONS of new things to do in the last 2 years its like a whole new game to you. Just look around here on the forums you'll see. Also factions and NF are fairly cheap now so get to it Plus im sure you may have some no longer available itmes on your old account that may be worth tons now a days

PvP is pretty tough to do with Prophecies-only skills. High level, I can't think of a standard build that you would be able to run without modification.

[Devastating Hammer][Crushing Blow][Hammer Bash][Counter Blow][Shock][Bull's Strike][Rush][Resurrection Signet]

Albeit not exactly high-end, it is the original linebacker build, still fun to use

Bull's is not from Prophecies. The game was updated to insert it. It is a Factions skill originally.

Back On topic

The game has improved alot recently as a matter of fact.
alot of new daily content has been added.
Factions and NF also offer tons of new skills and things to do
GWEN has kept me busy for a couple weeks now.

my advice : jump on the bandwagon

Been sniffing your dye collection again? July 7th '05 says 'sup?

Anyway. Back to the OP.

You'll be limited with the builds you can pull off on a Prophs-only account. I wouldn't go as far as saying impossible, but would be pretty hard. Not only from a playing point of view, but you'll also be spending a lot of time going "Hey, what's this skill on me". I'd seriously consider getting some recent campaigns or unlock packs or what have you.

But hey. Try to find a PvP guild, and if that doesn't work due to not being able to run their builds, collect your spare change together and buy a campaign or two. They really do come stupidly cheap these days if that helps

If you're looking to finish the campaigns/titles/get some new skins. Then great, game is still fun (and in your case new).

Low end PvP (RA/JQ/FA/AB)is in great shape, lots of people and a great way to spend time.

If you're interested in high end pvp forget it... defragmenting your hard drive is probably just as exciting.

I think when I next get some extra money I may get the other campaigns and get back in. Anyone know if there are any combo deals with eotn or no? I know there is one with prophecies

In Europe there's GW : Complete Collection, all three campaigns + EotN, it goes for about 30£, even less if you run into a sale. I'm not sure if it was released in the US.
In any case, all campaigns are already very cheap, and can often be found even cheaper on sale.

I'd say don't bother, but if the only thing you've played is prophecies, then get the other chapters and you can at least get a couple months of enjoyment out of it.

I'm 100% bored of GW, just waiting for another MMO to come along that doesn't suck.

Yeah, Guild Wars 2.

Seriously, after trying WoW, Conan, WAR....

I came back to Guild Wars. Despite its flaws, it's the best MMORPG currently on the market, and once you buy the game, it's free to play.

Can't wait for GW2.

To the OP: Buy Eye of the North, at least. Although for PvP, I would buy Factions, as Alliance Battle, Jade Quarry, Fort Aspenwood are all easy to get into.

And Nicholas the Traveler has brought new life to some old areas of the game, along with "Daily Quests." Great time to start playing again!

Gotta check out Darkfall though. From what I'm hearing,.. it's guildwars like, but you can gank people in it and take their loots which would be a cool twist. I'm imagining it's like Factions where you can 'own' your own towns but you actually have to defend them from other pvpers to keep 'em.

Yea Darkfall is bayaaad.

If you're looking for PvE, most MMO's have something down for it, some better than others. I'd personally consider GW's pretty good for not following the "tank-and-spank" archetype (well at least somewhat. Can we has scatter again, 'Net?). Things can get pretty dull in GW:EN, though: dungeons aren't terribly varied and bosses don't get a whole lot of variety. The mission structure is cool, though.

But for PvP, look no further than GW. It still has the most enjoyable RPG PvP than any other out there.
